Messengers from the Great Bear Oracle Cards

A little piece of the Great Bear Rainforest to take home.

The Messengers from the Great Bear Oracle Deck invites you to slow down, look inward and reconnect with the natural world around you.

It's a deck we use at Nimmo Bay as part of our wellness experience, where the cards offer a thoughtful way to pause, reflect and connect with the landscape that surrounds us.

Created by Vancouver artists Sarah Hammond and Brenda Holmes, each card pairs Sarah's hand-drawn interpretation of a creature with Brenda's words and reflections. The result is a deck deeply connected to the wildlife and wild places of British Columbia, and particularly meaningful here, in the Great Bear Rainforest.

For our guests, it's become a favourite way to carry a little of that experience home.

The messengers

Each card introduces a different creature as a messenger, offering an opportunity to consider its qualities, behaviour and place in the natural world.

The deck includes creatures familiar to the Pacific Northwest, from Raven and Spirit Bear to Herring, Kingfisher, Bumble Bee and Turkey Vulture. The artists' hope is that these encounters can help us bring nature inward and rediscover a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.

A deck we use at Nimmo Bay

This is what makes this deck particularly special to us.

Our wellness team incorporates the Messengers from the Great Bear into treatments at Nimmo Bay, using the cards as a way to invite reflection and connection.

For guests, discovering a particular messenger during their time here can become part of their experience of the rainforest snd taking the deck home gives them a way to return to that feeling long after they've left.
