About Richard Hunt


Richard Hunt is a freelance artist who called Victoria, British Columbia home. He acknowledges with respect the ancestral territories of Indigenous Peoples across British Columbia. Ricahrd was born in Alert Bay, BC where he began carving with his father, the late Henry Hunt (renowned Kwakwaka'wakw woodcarver), at the age of thirteen. After a career of carving with the Royal British Columbia Museum, he made the switch to freelance. He’s incredibly grateful to have gone through life doing what he loves and making a living doing it. It’s his true joy to educate people about his culture through the artwork that he creates and its importance to his people.
