About B.A. Weaving
Brent Akins operates B.A. Weaving Studio in the heart of the Broughton Archipelago, on Gilford Island, near the community of Echo Bay, BC. Located in traditional, ancestral Kwikwasut'inuxw Haxwa'mis territory. Brent began his weaving journey as a little boy, watching his Swedish grandmother work at her loom. Brent's studio was built by hand in 2012. It operates completely off-grid, with plenty of natural light, solar power for electricity, and a wood stove that provides heat and dries the textiles. Even the bobbin-winder is treadle-powered!
